Wagering Information

  • Horses are identified by their saddlecloth number, not by name. It is the customer's responsibility to ensure the correct selection of horse and race numbers for all wagers.
  • Wagers are accepted until post time.
  • Any past-posted wagers will be voided.
  • All wagers are paid based on track odds. (See track limits below.)
  • Track consolation payouts, when applicable, will be automatically credited.
  • Attempts to manipulate pools or hedge negative pools will result in account suspension and voiding of winnings.
  • Accounts found colluding to bypass limits will be suspended, and all winnings will be voided.
  • If a horse is incorrectly shown as scratched but runs, no refunds will be issued for wagers made in that race.
  • If the track does not offer payouts for a specific wager type, all bets of that type will be refunded.

Scratched Horses

Horse scratch information is updated automatically by the Cash Back Racebook system. We are not liable for errors from data suppliers regarding scratch status. If a wager is placed before a horse is scratched, the following rules apply:

  • Win / Place / Show: Full refund upon race grading.
  • Exacta / Trifecta / Superfecta / Quinella: The portion of the wager involving the scratched horse will be refunded upon race grading.
  • Daily Double:
    • If the scratch occurs in the first leg, all combinations involving the scratched horse will be refunded.
    • If the scratch occurs in the second leg after the first leg has started, no refund will be issued; however, consolation payouts will be paid if the first-leg winner was selected.
    • If the scratch occurs in the second leg before the first leg starts, the combination with the scratched horse will be refunded.
    • If the first-leg winner was not selected, the ticket is a losing wager, and no refund applies.

Pick 3 / Pick 4 Rules

Pick 3 and Pick 4 wagers follow track-specific rules for consolation payouts and all substitutions due to scratches.

  • Pick 3:
    • In most states, the post-time favorite will be substituted for scratched horses.
    • In NY, FL, CA, DE, and WV:
      • If the scratch occurs before the start of the first leg, the wager is refunded (once the final leg is official).
      • If the scratch occurs after the start of the first leg, a consolation payout will be applied.
    • In NY and DE, this rule applies only to Thoroughbred tracks. Harness tracks will substitute the post-time favorite.
    • At Fair Grounds (LA):
      • If the scratch is in the first leg, the wager is refunded.
      • If the scratch is in any subsequent leg, the post-time favorite will be substituted.
  • Pick 4: The post-time favorite will be substituted for scratched horses.
